Vocational Certificate/Passport Requirements

From the center, students receives a vocational certificate of completion and a portfolio (Career Passport) which includes the achieved competencies.

A vocational certificate of completion will be issued to all students who have passed all vocational and academic classes and satisfied the attendance requirements as established by the Butler County Joint Vocational School District Board of Education. The certificate states the student's career training area. Two levels of certificates are awarded depending on the qualifications of the recipient.

1. Completion Certificate of Merit

This certificate is awarded to students who meet the following criteria:

- Attendance: Students may not have more than 12 absences over a two year program involvement and 6 absences over a one year program involvement (all absences are counted toward the total absences, both excused and unexcused, including doctors notes)

- Grade Point Average: Students must have a minimum of a 3.0 through the 30th week of the second year of the program

- Program Requirements: Students must be enrolled in the career training program and all related courses through the entire program. Students must have completed all state proficiency test requirements for a diploma

2. Completion Certificate

This certificate is awarded to students who meet the following criteria:

- Attendance: Students may not have more than 36 absences over a two-year program and 18 absences over a one year program (all absences are counted toward the total absences, both excused and unexcused, including doctors notes)

- Program Requirements: Students must have passed all vocational and assigned academic courses.

3. Letter of Participation

This letter is issued to students who meet the following criteria:

- Program Requirements:

Students must have passed:

1) vocational lab class
2) 75% of all assigned classes.


Career Passport

All students who have fulfilled all requirements for a certificate of completion with merit or a certificate of completion will receive a Career Passport. The Passport is a portfolio containing formal documents and describes the marketable skills of the vocational completer. It is designed to assist students in making the transition from school to work, job seeking and career planning by presenting skills and knowledge acquired while enrolled with the Butler County Joint Vocational School District.
